A teenager, who received a heart transplant in 2013, died in a crash following a police pursuit Wednesday night.
Police say Anthony Stokes, 17, led Roswell Police on a high-speed chase. He lost control of the stolen car he was driving and crashed into a signpost.
Officers began the pursuit after getting a report that Stokes had kicked in the door of a home and shot at an 81-year-old woman. Tread marks were left on the lawn.
Brett Dudley recorded the end of the pursuit, which was northbound on Alpharetta Highway. He says Stokes was going about 75 mph when he hit the actual sign. Dudley says he was going at least 85 mph when he came up over the hill.
"He went over the curb, struck a vehicle waiting at the red light, and hit a pedestrian and eventually struck the pole", said Officer Lisa Holland of the Roswell Police Department.
According to police, Stokes died after he was cut from the wreckage of the car. The woman he hit is in the hospital, listed in good condition.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the pursuit and accident, but Roswell police defended the chase.
